Ice skating was a bust, so we opted to go bowling for Dave’s birthday. Bean’s first time out, and he bowled an 80! And Momma took advantage of the bumpers.

Dinosaur Discovery Day

We made a triceratops hat, dug for fossils, did a scavenger hunt and met Paleo Joe at the U-M Museum of Natural History. It was good to say hello to our old friends Al the Allosaurus, Basilosaurus and the Mastadons.

Pancakes, Planes, and look at that…

He might be talking about this one for awhile. The boys went to a Pancake Breakfast at the Ann Arbor Airport (Hosted by the EAA).

Planes you can sit in, a helicopter taking off and landing, a few classic cars, and did I mention the pancake part. This might have been little boy heaven, we were surrounded by boys ages 0 to 80, most were smiling, the ones that weren’t were standing with mouths agape.

So, a fun outing right? And then, do you have any idea what pulled onto the tarmac?
Look at that…

Not kidding, in the span of two hours, The Bean got to eat a pile of pancakes, sit in the cockpit of a plane, watch a helicopter take off and land, watch a plane take off, ride a pedal car plane, and not just stand on, but climb around inside an actual fire engine.

Swing batta, swing

I remember the smell of Tiger Stadium.

Go on, laugh, I’ll wait…

Maybe its the romantic in me, but a ball field should have a certain, let’s call it, odor. In little league it was chalk, freshly mowed grass, dirt and sweat. Tiger Stadium smelled like that, with a bit of beer and well, y’know thrown in. Comerica Park, none of that. Anyway, The Beaner got to experience his first Tiger’s game over the past weekend. He seemed to have fun, but on more than one occasion asked if he could watch the hockey game instead. That’s my boy.

I just hope Bean remembers the smell of The Joe after they tear that down too.
