The Gallinats

Potter Park 2012

You may remember this zoo from a couple of years ago. Although we didn’t quite have the whole place to ourselves, it was fun to catch up with some of our friends from the previous visit.

There were also some new faces; three tiger cubs that alternated between playing and sleeping. We also got up close to two female lions this time.

When we talked about going to the zoo, The Bean said he wanted to eat lunch with the peacocks. Not only did they join us for lunch, they were in their full glory, wandering the zoo and putting on quite a show for whoever would watch. We also learned that they are actually peafowl; daddys are peacocks, mommas are peahens, and babies are peachicks (don’t know why I didn’t know this before).

I know we’ve said it before but, this is a great little zoo. You can actually see the whole zoo in one visit, and they have some great animals. To top it off, the zoo is surrounded by a huge park with plenty of room to run and play. Don’t get us wrong, we like the big zoos too, but this one is definitely toward the top of our list.
